Talk, and it's written down.
Tap the record button and say what's on your mind, for a minute or for half an hour. Your words appear on the screen as you speak, and EasyJournal keeps them as a dated entry, with the recording if you want it. Apple's speech model does the writing on your iPhone or iPad, so nothing you say goes to a server.
Today opens on one big record button. Below it are today's entries, anything you said on this day in earlier years and, with Plus, a short recap of your week. Tap Type instead when talking out loud isn't an option.
Journal holds every entry by date. The calendar puts a dot on the days you talked and leaves the other days alone, because a quiet day is a quiet day. You can show one tag at a time, and on iPad the entry opens beside the list.
Search looks through every word you have said, along with titles, tags, names and places. With Plus you can also ask a question, such as when you last saw a friend, and get an answer drawn only from your own entries, with links to the entries it used.
Put Record an entry in Control Center, on the Lock Screen or on the Action button, or ask Siri to record an EasyJournal entry. Each one opens EasyJournal straight into a new recording. With Plus you can record on Apple Watch too, and your iPhone writes the entry down.
Recording, transcripts, photos, search, the calendar, iCloud sync, the Face ID lock, imports from Day One and Apple Journal, and export are all free, with no time limit and no cap on how much you record.
Plus tidies each entry. It takes out the ums and the repeated words and never changes a word you said, then adds a title, tags, a mood, and the people and places you mention. It also writes a weekly recap, answers questions about your journal, asks one follow-up question when there's more to say, and lets you record on Apple Watch. Your first entry is organised free, so you can see what it does with your own words. Organising runs on Apple Intelligence, which needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later or a recent iPad. Everything else works on older devices.
EasyJournal has no advertising, analytics or tracking, and you don't need an account. What you enter stays on your devices and syncs between them through your own iCloud account. You can export all of it, free, whenever you like.
